Langdock is the interface your people use to ask questions. The knowledge base is the verified foundation underneath. They do not replace each other; they build on each other. The question is when your answers need more than well-found passages of text.

Langdock answers the question “Where does it say something about this?” The knowledge base answers “What applies?”

With the knowledge base
The knowledge base knows which version replaced which. An outdated version does not appear as the valid answer — only when you explicitly ask for the earlier state.
Quotations, emails and meeting notes record what was offered or discussed.
With the knowledge base
Every document carries a class: record or approved statement. A quotation does not answer the question of what applies.
Prices, bills of materials, delivery dates and order status often appear several times in texts, and differently.

Master data and documents are queried directly, not estimated from running text. If a question names a project, quotation or invoice number, the whole order comes from the ERP: from quotation and order confirmation to delivery note and invoice. If a document contradicts the ERP, the answer names both, and the ERP applies.
The German and the English data sheet give different values.

The answer discloses the contradiction, with both sources and their dates, instead of silently picking one value.
The question is not answered in your documents.

The answer says exactly that, without filling in from general model knowledge. Every unanswered question is logged and shows which document is missing next.
An order consists of quotation, purchase order, order confirmation, invoice and dozens of emails.

Transactions, order numbers and references are linked. The answer brings the related documents along, even if they are worded differently.
For a complaint, an audit or a liability question, you must be able to show where a piece of information came from.

Every query is logged with the question, hits, sources and which AI model was used. The database runs in your own Microsoft Azure account and can be rebuilt from your documents at any time.
Investment
Langdock is set up within a few weeks; the quality depends on how good your filing already is. With the knowledge base, most of the effort is work on your data. It is done once, and every further department builds on it.

Prepare
PDFs, scans and tables are converted so that values in tables can be found. Duplicate files are removed.
Organise
Date, document type, version and validity are recorded on the document, using fixed value lists instead of free keywords.
Define
Which version replaces which, what is an approved statement and what is a record. Your team decides that, not a model.
Connect
Items, prices, bills of materials and documents are connected as a reliable source and queried directly. Your company’s number formats are stored so that every number mentioned is recognised.
Measure
Your people’s questions become a test set. Every change is measured against it before it goes live.
Operate
Search, database and log run there. New documents are added through a checked intake.
Rule of thumb
If none of the three applies, Langdock alone is enough — and we will tell you so.
